We are privileged to release the Apolis + Rooney Montréal Market Bag, exclusively sold at Rooney in Montréal, Canada. This is our 32nd Local + Global project, connecting regional retailers with our global advocacy and helping to create consistent employment for artisans in rural Bangladesh.

Known for its charm and rich history, Montréal has been deemed Canada’s heart and foundation. It is easy to forget that you are still in North America when surrounded by the beautiful British architecture and French-speaking locals. Montréal is a diverse city and its residents have a genuine sense of pride for their city and work toward the common goal of supporting local businesses. This tangible community spirit is also complimented by culture that is outward looking and global in nature.

Alex Danino founded Rooney in 2006 to provide a selection of products of the highest quality and also tell a unique story. Rooney is located in Old Montréal and was the first store of its kind to call the neighborhood home. Soon after Rooney’s opening, they were followed by a large variety of businesses, transforming Old Montréal into a unique and diverse community. Over the last 4 years, Old Montréal has grown exponentially and Alex humbly shared with us the privelege it has been to watch this growth from the beginning.

Rooney is our second Local + Global partnership in Canada, joining the Apolis + Old Faithful Vancouver, Canada Market Bag. Rooney and Apolis share a common dedication to quality production and manufacturing. We look forward to seeing our relationship grow with Rooney and are grateful to make a global impact with the community of Old Montréal.
