Today we are releasing our newest Transit Issue looks, the most durable and travel-focused range of Apolis products for people on the move. Raan Parton, Apolis Creative Director, continues to be inspired by our Santa Barbara hometown’s love for the outdoors. With this in mind, we approached the iconic American brand Sierra Designs who have been manufacturing equipment for backpackers and climbers since 1965.

The Sierra Designs brand was founded by friends George Marks and Bob Swanson in the California bayside town of Point Richmond, just north of San Francisco. Built to endure the most serious adventure and take you across the globe from the peaks of Nepal to the trails of your local greenway. For over 45 years, Sierra Designs has been creating exceptional gear and have been manufacturing their heritage 60/40 product line at the 36,000 square foot Mount Everest factory in Oakland, California.

We recently made a trip up north to document the manufacturing of their most iconic jacket and the newest addition to our Transit Issue range – the Apolis + Sierra Designs 60/40 Mountain Parka which is exclusively available in North America at the Apolis shop.

Watch the video for more about the inspiring American story of the owners and our new friends at the Mount Everest factory.
